How to fix a downloaded file:
If your download of a trial version file appears stuck or shows up as an Unconfirmed 123456.crdownload or similar file in your downloads folder:
This happens when your web browser pauses the file for security. Because the download is actually 100% complete, you just need to turn on file extensions in Windows to be able to rename the file back to an .exe and run it.
How to Turn on File Extensions in Windows
Before you can rename the file, Windows must be set to show file extensions (like .exe or .crdownload). Follow the steps for your version of Windows below:
Windows 11
- Open File Explorer (any folder).
- Click the View button on the top menu bar.
- Hover over Show at the bottom of the drop-down list.
- Click and check File name extensions.
Windows 10
- Open File Explorer (any folder).
- Click the View tab located at the very top of the window.
- Look in the “Show/hide” section on the ribbon and check the box for File name extensions.
Windows 7
- Open Windows Explorer (any folder).
- Click Organize on the top-left menu bar and select Folder and search options.
- Click the View tab at the top of the new window.
- Scroll down the list, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, and click OK.
