Orchid Manager is a comprehensive orchid collection tracker built around proper, complete botanical naming conventions — something no other Android orchid app offers to this depth — combined with genuine day-to-day care and maintenance tracking. Suitable for novice and experienced collectors alike.
WHY ORCHID MANAGER
• Full botanical naming depth: Subfamily through Genus (with Subgenus combined into the same field), Section (supporting single or multiple sections, plus Subsection), Species, Grex, Subspecies, Variety, Form, Cultivar, hybrid notation, cross method and more. See the screenshots for the complete field list.
• Ploidy is detected automatically: simply include 2N, 3N, 4N, 5N, 6N or 8N in the Plant Type field and it is appended to the assembled name automatically, e.g. [4N].
• Assembled Name: correctly formatted botanical names are built automatically from your entered fields.
• Name Builder: a dedicated tool for building Seed/Pollen Parent, Grandparent, Ancestors and Synonyms fields from existing records or free text.
• Lookup Table: auto-fills Subfamily, Tribe and Subtribe the moment you enter a Genus, and doubles as a fast genus-abbreviation lookup from both the Genus field and the Name Builder.
• Choose Parent Records links a plant’s Seed and Pollen Parent fields to other records already in your collection, powering the Lineage Feature — a visual ancestor tree you can navigate and export as a shareable image.
• Separate Reference Records let you research or wishlist orchids independently of your actual collection, with Copy to Collection when you acquire one.
• Archiving retains sold, deceased or given-away plants with full propagation history intact, including View Propagated Plants and Source Plant navigation.
• Find/Replace works across your whole collection.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
• Create Tasks: build unlimited custom maintenance tasks with default due dates and record intervals, then fine-tune the due date and interval on a per-record basis for any plant.
• Check All Tasks: view and update every task’s data for a record from one screen.
• Bulk Update: mark tasks done, or shift due dates and intervals, across many plants at once — narrow your selection with filtering, sorting, and checkbox inclusion/exclusion together.
• Notifications alert you at a chosen time to tasks due today or overdue, tapping through to update them individually or in bulk.
• Procedures Done: an automatic audit trail of completed tasks, propagation and parentage changes, plus manually added entries.
• Star Indicators: a five-level colour system (green, amber, flashing amber, red, flashing red) shows task urgency at a glance across list cards, the Maintenance tab, Check All Tasks and Bulk Update.
RECORDS & MEDIA
• Photos, videos and audio-only notes can be captured directly via your device’s camera and microphone, or added from existing device files — with separate Images and Growth tabs for collection records.
• Links tab: attach unlimited links per record to any web page or file on your device, plus a general Links screen.
• Contacts Records: Name, Business Name, Address, Contact Type, Specialty, Email, two Phone Numbers and Website — each with its own direct action button — plus Remarks and a Favourites star.
